Benjamin Wiener
New York-based artist, designer and gallery owner Benjamin Wiener first explored ceramics and throwing on the wheel while studying abroad in Japan in 1990. After returning to New York, he continued ceramics classes at Greenwich House Pottery while working in antiques, contemporary art galleries and design firms. He formed Cocobolo Design in 2008, becoming the first gallery devoted exclusively to ceramic art and, design leading the way in a new thread of collaborative work between ceramic artists and interior designers, architects and collectors.
In 2020 he refocused on his own practice, opening a studio in Brooklyn where he has expanded his design collection to include, lighting, tables, stools, furniture, mirrors, tile wall installations, sculpture and fireplace surrounds. Benjamin’s work incorporates elements of primitive art, architectural motifs, Brutalismn and Art Deco.
