We are pleased to announce the first solo show of ceramics by Young Mi Kim at Cocobolo
Gallery. Her range of work includes tall open vessels, deep rounded bowls and altered
sculptural forms. Kim uses the two dimensional line to give her shapes visual form and
strength, while her organic, hand-coiling technique and gently worked surfaces give her
forms life. The space contained in her pieces is balanced deftly with their vegetative and
marine inspired radiating, decorative patterns. Kim often wood fires her pots to achieve a
thoughtful unity of surface and design. Her quiet aesthetic offers a tactile link between the individual and nature. (Press Release).

Cocobolo Gallery is pleased to announce our summer exhibition of
decorative and sculptural ceramics. All made using traditional hand-
building techniques, these contemporary abstract and functional
designs beautifully exemplify the artists’ balanced use of form, scale
and surface.

Works include mirrors, lighting, tableware, vessels and wall installations
by New York based artists Colleen Carlson, Costain, Stacy Cushman,
Shizue Imai, Young Mi Kim, Peter Lane, Patricia Rubinelli and Arnie
Zimmerman..

We are pleased to announce Peter Lane’s first solo show of ceramic art at Cocobolo Gallery. Lane creates bold sculptures that are balanced beautifully with expressive, gestural elements. Using richly textured and glazed surfaces, he reveals both the rawness of natural clay and subtle touch of the artist's hand. This exhibition focuses on decorative wall reliefs and mirrors, as well as ceramic furniture and objects. Lane's aesthetic uniquely bridges the worlds of art and design through frequent collaborations with architects and interior designers. His work is widely collected in the U.S. and Europe, and is included in the permanent collection of Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris.

Opening Party Thursday, April 15th, 2010 from 7 - 9 PM. rsvp@cocobolodesign.com or call 917-847-7846. Exhibition through June 25th. Press Release.
